- Dean of FCES
- Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science
My research background is in the field of structural strengthening, utilising advanced composite materials to both enhance the performance and prolong the life of bridges, buildings and other structural systems.
I have an active consultancy profile and have worked on a diverse set of projects, ranging from the performance of locomotive cable connections, to the capability and safety of lifting rigs for underground access systems.
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Prior to moving into academia in the mid 2000's, I worked in industry both regionally and internationally, as far afield as Sierra Leone and Shanghai.
