About Me

Janusz is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Applied Artificial Intelligence at the University of South Wales (USW), UK, within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Science. His research spans both biomedical engineering and AI, with a focus on medical instrumentation and clinical applications of machine learning. His early work revolved around improving drug delivery systems, including a collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline that resulted in a novel device for rapid, simultaneous measurement of bipolar charge fractions in pharmaceutical aerosols. This project led to a patent application. Since 2006, Janusz has led the Biomedical Engineering and Computing Research Group (now part of the CCMI Research and Innovation Group) in collaboration with Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, REU. The group's work focuses on developing innovative, cost-effective methods for diagnosing and analyzing musculoskeletal conditions and applying AI to medical diagnostics. This research contributes to USW's Health and Well-being Accelerator initiative. Beyond research, Janusz has taken an active role in education, serving as a module leader for 21 modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
