About Me

My current research is focused on innovative electric motor development for EV within the Advanced Electric Propulsion Research Group at the University of South Wales. I am performing research to deliver next generation EV motors for vehicles including cars, vans, large road vehicles, trains, buses, marine, yellow goods and aviation sectors. I actively participate in collaborative R&D to design and develop high performance electric motors using revolutionary design techniques, modelling and optimisation of the manufacturing processes associated with robust motor control for enhanced performance in a wide operating environment. My role involves the development of materials for use in electric motors, their properties and performance (magnetic, mechanical, thermal, coatings etc.) together with design, modelling, building and testing of electric motors.

I am an experienced Metallurgy and Materials Science professional and an active member and Fellow of IOM3.  To complement my academic qualifications and industrial experience I completed a specialist Technology Management MBA to enable increased contribution in technology-based leadership and management roles. I am a Welsh Crucible alumnus, a programme to develop research leaders and hold an ILM Leadership qualification.
