About Me
Previous role: Head of Cyber Security, responsible for Undergraduate and Postgraduate cyber courses at USW’s Treforest and Newport campuses. Experienced lecturer with experience in both Further and Higher Education level as well as on a freelance basis.
In 2018 I founded the Women in Cyber Wales group (@womencyberwales) as a sub cluster of the South Wales Cyber Security Cluster, and as part of my commitment to the National Cyber Security Centre’s CyberFirst programme, I have development activities which have been approved under this scheme, as well as actively promoting and supporting the CyberFirst girls competition. I have delivered presentations on cyber security, women in cyber and outreach at events such as CyberUK (2019), Jisc (2019), NCSC (2018), Cyber Re:Coded (2018), Newport City Summit (2018) and Digital 2017. I am a member of the Cyber Resilience Board for Welsh Government, the DCMS Cyber Cluster Group and Wales Women in Stem (WIST).
I have delivered a significant amount of training to staff on Teaching, Learning & Assessment, Digital Literacy, Teaching HE in FE, Technology Enhanced Learning and more. In 2016 I became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I have also completed a Digital Literacy Practitioners Award. I am passionate about teaching, learner engagement and digital literacy, and am currently researching how authenticity and originality of students’ work can be ensured. I am a mentor for the TSL scheme and HEA at USW, and on the Women In Universities Mentoring Scheme (WUMS).
