Twitter @DrCerithJonesI am a molecular microbiologist experienced in bacterial genetics and genomics. My broad interests are how bacteria interact with each-other in their environment, and how certain species dominate and eliminate competitors.
Rwy’n microbiolegydd moleciwlaidd ag arbenigedd mewn geneteg a genomeg facteria. Yn eang, mae gennyf diddordeb mewn sut mae facteria yn rhyngweithio yn eu amglychedd, a sut mae rhai rhywogaethau yn domineiddio a dlieu eu cystadleuwyr.
Before moving to the University of South Wales I undertook a BBSRC funded Research Associate position at Cardiff University exploring the antimicrobial activity and population biology of Burkholderia bacteria from the Cystic Fibrosis lung. I obtained my PhD from Imperial College London with a thesis on the Type Six Secretion Systems of the opportunistic human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Cyn symyd i Brifysgol De Cymru ymgymherais swydd ymchwil wedi’i ariannu gan y BBSRC ym Mrhifysgol Caerdydd. Pwrpas y gwaith ymchwil oedd archwilio i weithgaredd gwrthfiotig a bioleg poblogaeth facteria Burkholderia o ysgyfaint pobl â ffibrosis systig. Derbyniais PhD o Imperial College, Llundain, gyda traethawd ymchwil ar bwnc secretiad protein o’r pathogen dynol opportunistaidd Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
