About Me

Dr. Elmesiry possesses over 16 years of experience during which he has held several academic and industrial positions in different parts of the world including Chile, Sweden, Australia, Ireland, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the UK. He served as a senior research fellow in cyber security at Federico Santa María Technical University, Chile, and a postdoctoral research fellow in cyber security at Malmo University, Sweden, and Monash University, Australia. His current research interests include reverse engineering, machine learning, privacy-enhancing technologies applied cryptography, multimedia, and IoT security, digital forensics investigations, and malware analysis. The body of his work encompasses 6 patents, 4 books,10 book chapters, and more than 45 research papers in international journals and conferences including prestigious journals such as IEEE Access, Cluster Computing, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Multimedia Tools and Applications, and the Journal of Supercomputing. 

Dr. Elmesiry has published 2 books focused on machine learning-based stochastic techniques for collaborative privacy, and evaluating data fusion methodologies for redundant positioning. He has successfully supervised over 30 postgraduate research and undergraduate project students and supervising Ph.D. students. He has worked in numerous commercialization projects and international projects in areas involving security, privacy, and machine learning in cross-discipline domains such as ICT FP7 SOCIETIES funded by The European Union 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development and PRTLI HEA FutureComm funded by Higher Education Authority, Ireland and the European regional development program and has been working with the Swedish research cluster on the Internet of things for the last four years, where he was leading a research group working on a project related to securing IoT solutions for smart homes funded by The Swedish Knowledge Foundation Vinnova and KK-Stiftelsen. Additionally, he participated in various research activities in mobility, data mining, and privacy that have been funded by the Open FET FP7 project MODAP. He has experience as Principal Investigator and was recently working on a Microsoft-funded project related to "Adaptive Security for IoT Applications". He holds the position of an associate editor of the international journal of cloud applications, and IEEE Access and acted as a guest editor, in special issues in high-quality scientific journals such as Cognitive Neurodynamics and the Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. He has served in different capacities such as organizing committee member, TCP member, focal person, and/ or publication chair of several international conferences and workshops. 

Dr. Elmesiry also has several years of industrial experience in Reverse Engineering and Malware Analysis. He also has received six best paper awards at different international conferences in Denmark, USA, Portugal, Malaysia, and Chile.
