About Me

Dr. Elmisery received his Ph.D. degree in computing - Information Security and Assurance from Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland and M.Sc. Degree in computing - Information Security and Assurance from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (Ranked 1st on a Class of 90) in partnership with the University of North Texas, United States, and US-Egypt Science and Technology program. He started his career as a lecturer & researcher in Computer Science and has more than 14 years of teaching and research experience in Computer Science at various universities especially, Elshorouk Academy (Egypt), Mansoura University (Egypt), Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (Egypt), King Saud University (Saudi Arabia), Waterford Institute of Technology (Ireland), Monash University (Australia), Malmo University (Sweden), Lund University (Sweden), Federico Santa Maria Technical University (Chile), and Nottingham Trent University (United Kingdom). Dr. Elmisery holds the following professional certifications CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), OSCE (Offensive Security Certified Expert), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert), and MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).

Dr. Elmisery has more than 14 years of Research/Industrial Experience in Network Security, Malware Analysis, Information Security, Privacy Enhancing Technologies and Networked Services. He has worked on several commercialization projects and international projects in areas involving cybersecurity, privacy, and trust such as ICT FP7 SOCIETIES funded by The European Union 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development and PRTLI HEA FutureComm funded by Higher Education Authority, Ireland and the European regional development program and has been working with the Swedish research cluster on the Internet of things for the last four years, where he coordinated a research group working on a project related to securing IoT solutions for smart homes funded by The Swedish Knowledge Foundation Vinnova and KK-Stiftelsen. Additionally, he participated in various research activities in mobility, data mining and privacy that have been funded by the Open FET FP7 project MODAP. He recently was working on a Microsoft funded project related to "Adaptive Security for IoT Applications" and holds the position of an associate editor of the international journal of cloud applications, Recent Advances in Computer Science and Communications and IEEE Access. His research interests include (Applied cryptography / Identifying Security Vulnerabilities / Reverse engineering / Privacy-enhancing technologies / Multimedia security / IoT security / Digital forensics Investigations / Malware analysis & detection / Machine learning & Social network analysis). Dr. Elmesiry also has several years of industrial experience in Reverse Engineering and Malware Analysis. The body of his work encompasses 6 patents, 4 books, 10 book chapters, more than 20 journal articles, and more than 45 conference papers in peer-reviewed international and national conferences. He also has received six best paper awards at different international conferences in Denmark, USA, Portugal, Malaysia, and Chile.
